The amazing power of the siphon: clean your aquarium quickly!

Received this product in the mail the other day. Finally used it today to do a partial water change and vacuum some gravel. For the past few years I've used the simplest and smallest siphon/gravel vacuum I've bought from Petsmart for my 12 gallon tank. I thought that was enough (which works anyway). However, I bought this as a secondary siphon because I will have another tank for my parents and I wanted a decent siphon that you didn't have to run the old fashioned way (you know, quickly put it in the water to start vacuuming ). Anyway, after a few quick squeezes of the pump on that siphon, the suction started. And let me tell you, this thing can suck out A LOT of water FAST! I was amazed by the power of this siphon and how quickly the water flowed from my tank into my bucket, it was like a jet of water! Before you know it the bucket was full and it literally cut the water change time in half! I received this siphon for use with 12 gallon (nanocube) and 6 gallon (river's edge). However, with the power of this siphon and the attachments provided (an extender for deeper tanks and a gravel cleaner) it can easily handle a much larger aquarium. However, if I had a larger tank, say >55+ gallons, I would go with a Python water changer (or similar water changers from Aqueon or Lee's). Overall, this is the best siphon for the money for jobs large and small. It is very versatile as it comes with attachments. I also like that there is a net at the end that fits in your tank so you don't accidentally suck in fish or too much gravel (in my experience some gravel got through because as I said the thing has power).

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Minor issues
