A birthday present for a 5 year old son. She loves it! The colors are surprisingly vibrant and wash out easily. She loves retractable pages. She has had it for almost 2 months now and all the colors of the powder are still intact but the gel glitters are very soft and you can only use them a few times. It's quite soft and doesn't flake off. I think if your kid digs up makeup or roughly plays with it, you'll end up with a mess on your hands. My only criticism would be with the brushes. One fell apart on first use and has really hard rough bristles.
