Review on ๐Ÿ“ธ Waterproof Housing Case for Samsung Gear 360 Camera (2016 V1 only) - Excluding 2017 Version by Mike Steeg

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I was afraid to order but it wasn't possible. Very happy with the results.

I have tried many underwater cases for different cameras. The reviews say the case is leaking, but in my case this didn't happen. I used it for snorkeling in almost freezing water. (1-4* C) The image quality is very good and the distortion is not as great underwater as it is above water. The plastic seam was probably designed so that it didn't show up until after the case was submerged due to aberration/underwater light distortion etc. In my case I did not find the case to be leaking but I never went below 1m or 3ft since I just started snorkeling. This case even survived a pretty hard accidental drop onto gravel! In the end I was afraid that the buttons would leak like in other cases with me or the plastic would become very brittle and fragile. It wasn't a problem. Very, very pleased and surprised. An important tip in this case: make sure you know which side of your camera is the front. The case is illogical, and the deformed "inflated" side is actually the front. The Gear 360's display actually faces backwards. I screwed up the first time and as a result some of my underwater shots were exposed incorrectly as the other side of the camera was looking up and adjusting the exposure while I was looking at the sun (mounted on a snorkel mask). If you put this on a snorkel mask and get the exposure right the effect is very cool, almost like you have a cameraman in front of you - a long arrow! Also make sure to turn off the red LED on your camera via the Android app. - Otherwise, part of the footage will glow red. If you need a dive bag for your 2016 Gear 360, get it; It's your only option, and most likely, it won't let you down. I was also worried about the mediocre reviews but it all worked out. I wouldn't take it under 7m/20ft.

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • Some problems
