The first need of an amateur is a power supply. It's as versatile as you are.

Do you have several old laptop or phone charger adapters, but none of them are right for your voltage or plug project? That is the answer. You can use a 9 volt power supply rated at 1 amp and get 12 volts, but with a little less current. Or a larger 20VDC 4A laptop power adapter and adjust the voltage and current to suit your project needs. These newer devices have plastic cases, so the problem with us hobbyists is that we have pieces of wire, screwdrivers, metal objects of all kinds on our workbench. Install an unprotected device DROK and BUF on them! So now they have insulating covers so that we who focus on problem finders can't accidentally damage our power supply. I have several of these. I even use them for specific purposes in our five-wheel motorhome.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not the best
