Review on 🥞 Cuisinart Silver Belgian Waffle Iron with Pancake Plates - Single Serve, WAF-300P1 by Ben Duncan

Received this today and decided to try making waffles for dinner. I used the mix, didn't even bother with the homemade dough. The waffles were amazing! Cooked to perfection and great. A touch of 1.25 cups of batter was perfect (the instructions said 1.5 cups but it spilled over the waffle maker and made a mess). Following the instructions, I gently spread the batter over the sides and corners before closing the lid. The timer starts automatically when I close the lid - I don't have to remember anything to set it. I didn't use any oil or waffle plate spray at all and every waffle came out great [see photo]. Edit at end of review]. In fact, the plates look like they haven't been used even though I made five waffles. The plates heat up very quickly so there's really no downtime between waffles - until I take the waffle out and put it on my plate. The "Ready" light came on again. I played with the temperature a bit and the ideal waffles seemed to be somewhere between 5 and 6. Each waffle took about five minutes to cook. I can't wait to experiment with different batters and pancake sheets. The instructions say you can make eggs in pancake pans that are perfect for breakfast sandwiches. Edited 4/11/14: After 3 or 4 uses (and washing), the plates were no longer non-stick, even though I washed them VERY thoroughly (top shelf). He still makes very tasty and beautiful waffles, but now I use a silicone pastry brush to thoroughly oil the plates before each waffle (wear an apron - your shirt might get a few drops of oil on it). This gives the waffles a wonderfully crispy crust on the outside, so I don't think that's a bad thing. I personally wouldn't use non-stick spray. I've found it to build up horribly on other devices and leave a sticky mess. The oil washes off easily.
