Bought this phone for my visually impaired 92 year old mother. She has no problem seeing numbers in good phone lighting. However, this phone has one major flaw, as other reviewers have pointed out. The memory disk, which is very important for the visually impaired, is extremely poorly implemented. The memory button is small and has the same color as the phone's body. Even if I painted it with nail polish, it would be difficult for my mother to see. I put a sticky button on it so she can find it by touching it, but she's still having a hard time. It baffles me why they made such a fundamental design mistake. What the hell were they thinking? The programming instructions for the memory disk are incorrect. They tell you to press the prog button twice - first to start programming the phone, and again after entering the phone number but before pressing the "memory + number" button. The second time is a mistake. Skip this step. Finally, don't assume that an elderly parent can program this phone themselves, even if they're sighted. In order to successfully program both memory dialing and announcements, you must be able to dial phone numbers and speak announcements fairly quickly. If you take too long entering numbers, the phone ends the programming session and begins dialing the numbers already entered. The announcement gives you a very short time to speak and then interrupts you. An older person with their normally slow reaction time and poor working memory would have trouble programming this phone IMO. Also keep in mind that the ringer is quite loud and shrill even on the lowest settings. You no longer have to think about the design of the phone. This is so close to being perfect for a visually impaired person.
