Review on πŸ”ͺ RMP High Carbon Annealed Knife Blade Steel Billets - 1095, 2" x 12" x 0.187" for Knife Making by Charles Lewis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I like this stuff is good for hand tools

I'm a complete novice in knife making and don't know much about knife making metals yet; I have to admit that some of the negative reviews put me off a bit. I needed a 2 inch wide blank and that was all I could find so I gave it a try. It arrived a day early and seemed perfect for my project. Do you know how nuby is? I got a template and started cutting with my AG. It also cut slower than I used to, but it cut very well. The belt sander for contour smoothing was also slower but not in a hurry and did it well. So far I'd say it's a good choice of knife, after all it's a high carbon alloy 1095. I still have some cosmetic work to do before heat treating so I can't report on that yet but will report back afterwards is. did. I haven't had any of the negative experiences that have been yelled about and will be buying again when this project is complete.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
