I have an old anemometer that I wanted to replace. It works the same as this one. through the wire. However, it will be hooked up to a dial indicator instead of an electronic readout like the one here. I looked at the reviews on this before buying and many of them said it was a "shot" and the bike counter was too small. It was also mentioned that there was a countdown timer at the bottom of the display that couldn't be removed. Spring. I placed my order anyway (thought it might not be related to my current sensor) and it arrived today. Here's my review right out of the box. in this case: First. The anemometer is of high quality and a cable is already connected, which I really liked. I don't mind splicing wires. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out how to do this. However, based on the reviews, I had more concerns about the bike counter. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it works. There were similar reviews. Despite some negative reviews, the bike counter is actually big enough to get the job done. You see the numbers very well. Maybe if you're across the room, then no. But for more realistic views it works. And that timer at the bottom of the display under the MPH readings Yes, it can be changed. I couldn't make the information go away entirely, but repeated presses of the padded button beneath the display itself will cycle through the various information displays. and one of them is "Medium". Because this gauge connects to an anemometer, the reading "Average" is appropriate as it tells you the average wind speed that the gauge is measuring. Finally, the bike counter's size means you can mount it almost anywhere, which is handy. Mine will go next to my full weather station display. I decided to do a more accurate wind reading since my entire weather station is wireless. So there is a delay of up to 30 seconds in updating the information from the instruments. Needless to say, you can miss a lot in 30 seconds with wind. So this guy will give me a more truthful reading. I have yet to install it on the roof but preliminary testing has shown I give it 5 stars for now. Once installed I will update if necessary. For now I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend trying it out if you want an easy way to see how windy it is. Hooray :-)*** And for the Revain people who review it: This is an honest review. I tested this product although it has not yet been installed on the roof. This review follows all Revain recommendations. There is no reason not to publish them.
