Well my old key fob had a tear on the back and had to press the buttons multiple times to lock/unlock. I wasn't planning on changing the whole key, just thinking about the dead battery. I measured the voltage on the new battery and got the same readings. So I looked for a new spare key. I opted for a cheaper case before spending money on a new key. This case looks identical to my OEM key, although I can't easily replace the back cover myself. The battery holder and cover are harder to snap/close than a GM key. I was afraid of breaking the new cap if I tried too hard. Anyway, after several attempts, I finally closed the case. The new keys work much better and my car responds to every click. I probably shouldn't leave my car keys in my back pocket and get in (which I have to do to crack the back cover of my old key).
