I pre-ordered this controller and the Luigi version hoping it would be a great alternative to the official Gamecube controllers and Gamecube adapter. And for the most part, my hopes were justified. If you want a basically authentic Gamecube controller experience without having to deal with cables, and you have a Wiimote, then this is probably your best bet. Please note that this rating also applies to the Luigi version. In terms of ergonomics, it is actually a Gamecube controller. If you are a Gamecube nostalgic, you will automatically feel at home with this product, at least in its form. However, the plastic is slightly different from the actual Gamecube controller. It doesn't feel bad in any way, it just feels "cheaper". It also maintains the matte finish of the official Gamecube controller, so you don't have to worry about fingerprints, especially when compared to the Wii U Pro controller. This product also appears to be a bit lighter than the official Gamecube controller, although this is most likely due to the lack of vibration features rather than poor build quality as it is essentially a classic Wii controller with a Gamecube-like feel . The buttons look exactly like they do on the official Gamecube controller, as do the sticks. The only real differences in terms of buttons are the directional pad, shoulder buttons, and center buttons. The D-Pad is now much larger than the official Gamecube controller and looks great despite being made out of slightly different plastic. The traditional slider buttons have been replaced with short throw buttons that are more similar to the Wii U Pro controller, and there are now TWO Z buttons instead of one. There are now four buttons in the middle: the Minus/Select button, the Home button, the Plus/Start button and the Turbo button. With the turbo button, hold down the desired button and press the turbo button. Then use the slider to increase the key press frequency. Haven't found a use for it yet, but beware of scammers. After playing with this controller for a few days, I can safely say that this controller is perfect for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. Everything feels natural. , and the Wiimote means there is little, if any, input lag. I haven't tried Brawl yet, but it will likely produce the same results. I've also tried it with Mario Kart 8 and it's very good too. It took quite a while to get used to the short throw triggers, but after that all controls in all games ran smoothly, like clockwork. Overall this is a really good controller and considering it's made by Hori it's perfect. Meaning. If you'd rather save a few bucks to play Super Smash Bros. with a Gamecube controller, this is a great option. However, those with more nostalgic tastes might not like it, preferring the official Smash Bros. controllers instead. Gamecube and controller adapter. However, what the Hori Battle Pad for Wii U does, it does well and is easy to recommend for those who want a wireless option for Smash Bros. and other games. Games like Smash Bros. look natural. Serves as a great wireless option (assuming you have a Wiimote). The turbo function can be used well. minuses. Some plastic parts look cheaper than the official Gamecube controller. usual - Turbo could be misused in the future
