Looks like a GameCube controller but doesn't work as a controller

This controller has essentially the same shape and layout as a regular GameCube controller. Your hands will feel right at home with him. As a longtime Smash Bros. player who has played the occasional tournament over the years, it's basically like a lightweight GameCube controller. Overall, most of the button execution is the same as the original GC controller, and in many ways I also prefer the one-click shoulder buttons over the original since you don't really need a slider to execute shieldsโ€ฆ

Please note that this rating also applies to the Luigi version. In terms of ergonomics, it is actually a Gamecube controller. If you are aโ€ฆ

HORI performs best on Wii U

*This review assumes you are most interested in this Super Smash Bros. controller. First, let me say that I've never been a fan of third-party developers. anything. SPECIAL controllers. I've had all the first batch controllers of every Nintendo home console since the N64 (N64, GCN, Wavebird, Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Wii Classic Controller, Wii Remote Plus, Wii Classic Controller Pro, Wii U Gamepad, Wii U Pro Controller) and I have used several third party controllers (GCN, Wii Remote, Nunchuk, Wiiโ€ฆ
