I'm going to start by saying I knew before this arrived that it wasn't going to be extra thick since you can clearly tell by the pictures. Giant, near mattress thick dog beds cost a fortune. I ordered the largest 42 inch sized bed. I have two big dogs over 60 lbs, and I know how it goes if you want an extremely large and thick bed for them. I bought this for my one larger dog, because he has a negative habit of going potty on his beds. He's been doing this for 12 years since he was a baby, and he'll even do it on blankets. This is the first time I was able to find a washable bed, and that made me super excited since whenever he does this I need to throw his beds away or he just can't have beds. It doesn't matter what thickness it is, since he just prefers to lie down on something. If there is a bed sheet on the carpet, that will be the first spot he chooses. I'm pretty sure I made his week when I showed him this, and he immediately got nice and comfortable on it. I love that it has two sides which can cater to the weather. Right now it's about 90°, so the slippery, cooler side is perfect for him. Once fall and winter comes, he can use the softer/warmer side. Then, if I'm not paying attention and he does his negative habit, I can just throw it in the washer. You can see in the picture it's a decent size for my dog, and the little 8-pounder can also lie down at the same time. The cat is also interested, but the dogs are hogging it right now.If you have a dog that is older or really needs extra cushion for comfort, then obviously this one may not be for you. I just cannot say how happy I am to have finally found a washable dog bed with options for climate differences. This was definitely a good find. It's even a nice, neutral color that looks good in my home since I have gray wallsOverall, this bed is perfect for animals that tend to have accidents or if you want an option to have a cooler or warmer preference. You can even use this as a topper on an extra thick dog bed that is unable to be washed.
