Before installing on my 1987 R10 (like C10) with small block 350 I powdercoated the blower box and pipe with chrome powder and then with translucent metallic red and it looks good and it works great! I used my stock wing nut for installation as the included thumb grip didn't have enough force to push it firmly against the air intake. This proved to be too much pressure on the unsupported aluminum and it began to sag under the wing nut. To fix this I drilled through the top of the thumb grip to open it up so it could be screwed onto the set screw. I installed it so that the plenum was on top of the thumbscrew when tightened. This trick turned out to be a PERFECT replacement for the restrictive original.
