I have had many different vacuums. Due to dog and cat hair in our home, they usually last about a year. I had lower spine surgery 5 weeks ago and was looking for something easy to use at home. Nothing heavy to push or lift. My last vacuum was partially dead - it was bagless and while I liked seeing what it could pick up, the problem of dust on emptying was always an issue. My friend bought an expensive Oreck and I knew this brand. So I came to Revain and read the reviews, found that it had a lot of good reviews and I got a lot of information in the questions. First, it's not noisy compared to other vacuums I've had (Bissell, Tri Star, Eureka, Hoover). It arrived in two pieces which this elderly lady easily assembled, all I needed was a Phillips head screwdriver. It was very easy to push my rug. I have three different heights. The first rug I used has a small pile. The vacuum cleaner glided right over it, sucking up the dirt with ease. I liked that it almost got flat under the bed and I could vacuum under the bed a bit. In the hallway I could walk up to the wall. Then it was on to another carpet, lint-free, matt look, and again Oreck gave it his all. The last was a heavy mat of about 12 x 8. The Oreck suddenly became very difficult to push, not terrible but it required more strength to move. But the Oreck picked up a lot of what my other vacuum missed and when I was done the carpet looked almost brand new! Haven't used it on hardwood or tile yet but I think it will work fine. There were a few things I missed about my old Bissell. Oreck's cord is nice and long, but you can't remove it cleanly. It is hidden under the recess on the handle. I like to turn off the rollers when laying parquet or laminate; The Oreck has no height changer. These two small complaints are not suitable for this vacuum cleaner. That's a good price and was actually cheaper than my Bissell which I bought from a big store. And that includes an additional purchase of 25 bags! The final complaint is the wheels - it's difficult to roll the device back before plugging it in. I highly recommend this vacuum cleaner, especially for the elderly who expect a quality and affordable product. This vacuum cleaner is light and manoeuvrable. The metal handle - the part that you screw in - is very solid and well made. Bags can be bought cheaply at Revain or any other store.
