For accurate and safe cuts, it is better to buy a hair clipper with a magnifying glass attached to it.

These are just tiny sandpapers, no different from adults, just smaller. The problem is actually newborns don't have hard nails yet so they're almost useless, your best bet is to get a pair of scissors with a magnifying glass attached for precise and safe cuts.
