They work great as have other Verbatim discs I've used, DL and others. These are printed directly onto the surface of the disc itself, although I haven't tried it. I just wanted a DL drive that worked. No other brand I've tried works. I don't usually buy printable discs, but regular silver top Verbatim. No difference in quality, both are excellent but if you don't print on them you can use a regular surface. They have a plain white finish, work well with a printer, and I figured they would work well for simple handwriting as well. It's okay, but I've found it's harder to write on for some reason. For DVDs and CDs I use a special stylus, as well as the one recommended for use on discs, and it always works great except for white surface discs. A pen doesn't work that well either. But it can be done and I believe there is a pen that is perfect for it. I just couldn't find it. That might be a consideration when choosing this DVD, but otherwise these Verbatim DL DVDs are excellent! I've burned a hundred or so without a single mistake. The decisive factor is whether it is a printed surface, as here, or a regular surface. use verbatim!
