You need to upgrade to High Sierra 10.13 for macOS to recognize it

I bought a JetDrive 855 PCIe SSD for my MacBook Air model A1466 (Early 2015) which I've researched requires a PCIe version of it to be transcended . The OS version I was using was El Capitan and I couldn't upgrade to High Sierra because the original 128GB SSD was full. I didn't carefully read the instructions that said the drive requires 10.13 (High Sierra), so I played with it for HOURS before I figured it out. I ended up having to move some files to another external drive to update the OS to version 10.13, which appears to update the Mac's firmware as well. After the update, the disk was recognized immediately. I followed YouTube's instructions to install the new OS version on a new 240GB internal drive to boot and used the original 128GB as an external drive. It's perfect. If you are purchasing this to replace your full original SSD, remember that you MUST upgrade to 10.13 before the drive can be recognized. I hope this saves you time and headaches.
