Review on Shure A27M Stereo Microphone Adapter by George Walker

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing build quality

These things are solid metal, not tubing, and seem to last forever. Another reviewer rightly said that registration marks are missing, which looks like a real oversight, but isn't a problem for my workflow as I work by things rather than marks, but I fully understand the need for marks in certain circumstances. There are a couple of notches on the top handle that seem out of place for them to move when you tighten or loosen the handle. All this to say that they worked very well in my studio. What you don't see in the photos is the fact that the top silver section is unscrewable and the 2 microphone threads can be detached and then replaced in 4 different configurations. 1) With 2 microphone strands close to each other in the center of the tripod (as shown in the picture). 2) With 2 microphone strings on opposite ends of the tripod. 3) With 2 microphone strings at a medium distance from the tip of the tripod. .4) With two microphone strings placed at a medium distance from each other on the underside of the stand. Depending on the size of the microphones or gimbals used, this can be very useful. We've used it with the small Audio-Technica AT8410a microphone bumpers with good results. This combination works well with stick mics like the Neumann KM84 and Royer 122.

Pros
