Replaces the candle

The light is bright enough, the flicker mode is similar to the flickering of a candle. The remote control only works when standing over or near a light source. The timer works if you figure out how to use it, the instructions don't say so. I got it to work by turning on the light with the main switch, then standing next to a lit gourd lamp and continuing to press the timer button until the light flickered (turned off/on). I've been using it for five evenings and the batteries are down to 60%, looks like they've used up a lot of battery power. Maintains year-round access for emergency lighting during a power outage.
