to replace a broken cheaper unit from another manufacturer. The old device worked out of the box, what I needed went into use after 3 years and NG. Saves so much test/copy time and eliminates the need to remove/install hard drives. Tried this uGreen on 3.5 SATA and 3.5 IDE drives and worked fine - after a while. I also like the presence of a power button AND the lack of an OTB (One Touch Backup) button as it was too easy to accidentally press it on the Kingwin device. These devices are small, have multiple connections, and require many operations to connect. Why only 4 stars? Clear but small print on a very simple instruction manual, and the operation is sensitive to the order in which the connections are made. Didn't work when I first tried it then I followed the instructions in order and JOY. Worked on Windows 7 Pro, XP and VISTA Home machines. As for reliability - just a few days.
