I have a metal phone mount in my car but have decided to replace it with a charger. Of course, NO Qi wireless charger will give you the same performance as a regular USB-C power cable. This is NOT FAST CHARGING. When I plugged it in and pressed my bare phone against it (no case or metal plate), my Google Pixel 3 XL showed a "Slow loading" message. Driving 24/7 and constantly using something like Google Maps will drain your battery. However, this should prevent your phone from completely draining. My car rides (Covid days) last 10-30 minutes max. Basically, it's just a convenient loading bonus without having to constantly plug it in. I leave the USB-C cable in the center console for emergencies, but love the aesthetic and the convenience of not having to plug it in. To be honest I'm trying to rekindle my love for my phone (and it's a reliable workhorse, just an old one) so removing the dirty 2 year old case gave me a new reason to be happy. Put a little magnet on the back and get some wireless chargers in the car and at home to feel trendy again ;) and it's way cheaper than a $1200 phone.
