So many of these barcode scanners come with a USB cable to connect to a PC for wired operation or a USB receiver for a wireless 2.4 connection. Many also have Bluetooth connectivity, which is NOT present in this version. However, the cradle feature makes Bluetooth moot, so I can see why the feature is left out. There's no USB receiver either, since the charging station is your USB receiver, it does double duty. You connect the base station to your computer, and while it is connected, the scanner is connected to the wireless network. Even better, when you rest your scanner, it recharges itself. Here are some important things for newbies like me. I've never owned a barcode scanner, but all of these products assume you have one. I assumed, like other gadgets, that you download some kind of software or application to view the scanned codes. It's not like that at all. I learned from many videos on Google and YouTube that they work like keystrokes. You can open any program on your computer in which you see a blinking cursor, e.g. B. Word, Notepad, Excel or even a search browser. Wherever you place the blinking cursor, i.e. at the insertion point, the codes appear there. You can set it up to appear immediately at the time of the scan, or you can use the scanner in memory mode and download everything later. With no apps or software to download like traditional gadgets, all settings and adjustments are made by scanning barcodes. Tera gives you a little guide with barcodes. Each barcode is for a specific setting, but this is not a complete guide. You must go to the Tera website to download a more complete manual. However, the manual on their website doesn't seem to cover all the features of this scanner. For example, you will see for yourself that when you scan a USPS package, 9 digits/characters are added before the tracking number on your package. These numbers are hidden so you don't see them on the packaging. It should be 22 digits, which ends up being 31. Then I have to remove the first 9 digits manually, which is tedious. Well, there is a setting that tells the scanner to skip the first or last digit of a number. In my case I want the first 9 characters to be omitted. The barcode for this setting is not in the supplied manual. So I uploaded their larger manual to their website, but the most you can remove is the first 4 digits. I contacted Tera about the need to remove the first 9 characters and they emailed me with a barcode setup that would allow this. I asked them where they got this code from? They say they took it from other manuals made for other languages. SMX. LAUGH OUT LOUD! So you see, their guide to the English market is currently incomplete. Now here's another problem. When I scan multiple packages from USPS, UPS, Fed Ex, etc., missing the first 9 digits causes problems with UPS packages. Since there are no hidden characters in UPS packages that need to be revealed, you end up deleting the first 9 digits of the actual tracking number. So Tera told me that if I want to go back, I need to factory reset the scanner. Therefore, the best solution would be to buy two scanners. lol! I bought another scanner from Symcode that came with a more reliable barcode setup guide. This allowed me to hide up to 16 digits! This scanner is now my dedicated USPS scanner and this Tera scanner is for UPS. If you are interested in this symcode scanner, here is the Revain link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B092MB8BXZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 In conclusion, I don't really have high requirements on it these scanners. All I needed was to remove some characters from the USPS packages, which this barcode scanner can do, but only after contacting support. The Symcode version included the answers to my questions in their manual. As said, this Tera was designed for UPS packages, it survived the bell and is doing a great job. But for their incomplete manual you have to put 1 star. 4 stars!
