I replaced my old adapter with this adapter because I needed a third USB port while working at home and I: a. Lazy and just wanted to put an adapter in my macb. The old adapter didn't support more than 50W USB power, so my Mac's performance was a bit limited (this wasn't usually a problem, but when I was running CPU-intensive activities (local K8 stack + VM. Don't ask) battery charging didn't always keep up) This adapter works great. Does what it's supposed to and I've had no problems. The old adapter was thrown in my briefcase to have on hand when traveling. If it helps, I have experience with other adapters - they weren't nearly as good as the Mokin; it got hot; permanently disabling USB, etc. If you basically want to run a docking station that handles everything but audio and an ethernet jack, you can't go wrong with this.
