I recently bought a Canon ZR850 MiniDV camcorder that didn't come with a FireWire cable so I bought this one. Works great, even on the first try. No messy installations, just plug and play. I have not tried it with any other product. 6ft cord is a good length, I think 3ft is too short (these are also sold). The computer I am using it with is a Compaq SR1950NX desktop and is fully functional. Keep in mind that you need to check if your computer requires a 4-6 pin connection (one end small, one end larger) or a 6-6 pin connection. Much luck!
