Pre-installed strainer/restrictor washer cannot be removed. If you do this, the water will be pushed back out of the end of the hose/connector. I've tried using the same size shims as mine (no mesh in the middle) but I feel they just don't fit snugly enough. If you don't fully tighten it will leak/splash out of the hose fittings......but if you tighten it to this point the hose will no longer be able to rotate freely, completely eliminating "tangle-free" rotation. So this is a regular hose...don't get your hopes up...not for those who don't have much water pressure...
