This is one big buzzing machine! However, it is useless for cooling. DOES NOT cool the room. Cools the MAN. If I had known that, I would not have bought it. I have something to do at home, not just sitting in front of the fridge. I have to cool the room. If I were to buy another one I would go for the smaller version because in this case bigger isn't better. I measured the area I wanted to cool and bought the size I needed, but since it cools the person and not the room it really doesn't matter. The air is punchy like a fan at high speeds, even on the lowest settings it blows away papers and light objects and it's loud! It will be difficult to sleep with him. It's awkward to turn around when full of water, but at least it can be carried. Also, you need to open the window to use the cooling function. So hot air enters the house, which defeats the purpose. I don't know if it can be used outside but it would probably be perfect for people who like to sit outside when it's hot.
