Don't replace the distributor.
My Corvette got lost, backfired and didn't work well. I checked the timing chain, rotor, cover and everything strictly mechanically and everything was fine. It seems to have been dizzy. I looked around and couldn't find a replacement for the Mallory Type 57 electronic cheat on my 327 SB. Choices were limited due to the need for a tachometer. I decided to see if there was a replaceable electronics module and found 609. Installed and everything is fine. Cold Beans!
