I have always roasted corn in a cast iron skillet, which is quite difficult on electric burners or gas grills and not possible on new glass top stoves. Since there is only one person here, I bought the 4oz model. 4 ounces of Orville Redenbacher is a lot of popcorn. As mentioned, it cooks corn in 4 minutes. Big. During the first test, I noticed that as soon as the popcorn came out, many unexploded seeds popped out along with the popcorn. Thank goodness there's a crate downstairs for old damsel kernels, because those unopened kernels aren't old damsels. Put them back in the mix and they will pop. The lid covering the popper isn't heavy enough to prevent this. The solution is to buy some large magnets from Wal-Mart (cheap) to make the lid heavier. Problem solved. You can also view the larger model without downloading it. The extra space can prevent large amounts of unopened corn from popping out. All in all a great car. I also bought a measuring spoon with spinster holes in it. Don't chase unopened corn, stockpile it. It comes with some plastic measuring tools which are not very functional for frequent use. 3 plastic popcorn cups are too narrow at the bottom and can fall off, so I won't use them. I also have a basic supply of paper bags which are good. For me, I just eat popcorn from a big bowl big enough for my hand. Bags suit those on the run. I once had a popcorn machine at the movie theater that also produced a lot of the unexploded seeds that everyone knows about.
