Fit and work well - replacement

They fit and work well but THE NEED for them makes me wonder why the design hasn't been improved. Apparently many Bosch customers have lost and/or broken dishwasher wheels. Should we consider it disposable like razor blades or ink cartridges? I have bought 6 so far.
