I bought this as a cheap, fairly accurate reference thermometer for measuring the outside temperature. The temperature range of -35 to 50 °C is perfect for where I live in Canada. But upon arrival from the Amazon, it was broken - cracked into 3 pieces. It came in manufacturer's clear plastic packaging that offers little protection, and Amazon offered no additional protection. I would happily pay a bit more to have it bubble wrapped and/or plastic protective tube like most other manufacturers or retailers do. half a degree on some Thomas/HB thermometers). And the 12-inch length makes the distance between each degree quite large (about 1/8 inch), which makes reading easier. You could easily distinguish the changes in fractions of a degree.
