I have a belt with a D-ring. It is very durable, stretchy enough and pliable without being sloppy or loose. I sometimes have trouble getting the belt and especially the elastic through the loops of some pants/shorts depending on the size of the loops. The elastic retainer should follow the leading edge of the belt to your right (compared to a traditional belt where the retainer is to the left of the gigline). The holder tends to get caught in each loop of the belt when threading the belt.
