I asked about these pads a few years ago to see if they would be useful for shock/vibration absorption and found I never left a review. Short answer: Yes! Long answer: some of the reviews I read while researching the mic pictured stated that it picked up vibrations from whatever surface it was placed on due to its metal base. I was looking for something that not only absorbs shock and minimizes background feedback, but also has a large enough diameter to accommodate a 5" mic base. Not only are these sliders great for protecting wooden floors from furniture, but they're also great for deadening random background noise that the mic might pick up (keyboard typing, raising/lowering a cup, etc.). Very happy with this purchase and just know that they can be used for other purposes!
