Review on SAMSUNG 65-inch QLED Q90T Series Smart TV - 4K UHD, Quantum HDR 16X & Alexa Built-in (QN65Q90TAFXZA) by Ahmed Jackson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good TV but not much better than the average LED TV.

First of all I would like to say that I have calibrated the TV according to the recommendations of the RTINGS.com website. I also went through a series of test image patterns on the Bluray disc to tweak the image. After hearing more and more about these quantum dot TVs being superior to OLED TVs, I decided to buy one to replace my 2016 LG OLED B6. Blackboard. Unfortunately I can't say I'm impressed. I've noticed a lot of blurring around bright objects in dark scenes when local dimming kicks in. Additionally, there's little panel movement (not to mention the use of motion smoothing features). I was very impressed with how brightly lit scenes looked (like Cat's Return, Studio Ghibli), but anything dark resulted in too much gray as the panel tried to display light and dark areas at the same time. I also ran into issues when trying to view HDR content through my Xbox One X. The TV didn't pick up an HDR signal (thanks to Samsung for not showing an HDR prompt on screen when HDR content is detected, like every other manufacturer I've seen). ). I have enabled the HDMI ports to receive "full signal" in the TV menu but no luck. The HDR content I was able to view on YouTube performed well with very bright highlights, but poor black quality resulted in poorer contrast than I would have liked. To be honest I can't say that this TV is much better than my Sharp 50 inch. A TV I bought from Best Buy in 2018 (rebranded from Hinsense). HDR performance is very similar and the XBox One X even works with my Sharp TV. The sad thing is that Sharp was a $400 TV. I don't want to be a different voice in the crowd, but I would say "buy an OLED" because at the end of the day, those backlit panels just can't keep up. I returned this TV and received a Sony A9G and there is nothing to compare. I don't think you'll be disappointed with Samsung, but given the cost it's just not worth it when a $500 TV can perform at the same level. spend $1800? Just get OLED at this point. Thank you very much.
