If your dishwasher doesn't wash well. This could be the solution to your problem. I bought a house and it had an old dishwasher. It was pointed out to my wife that some of the cups/plates had streaks of soap scum on them. It didn't seem to matter if it was pills or liquid. I even tried washing up liquid but to no avail. I also removed the screen inside and found a lot of mold which I removed. It helped a little but not much. Drain pipe changed, again without success. After some research I finally decided to give it a try. BINGO! The fact is that the drain piston is stuck in the open position. The dishwasher fills the bottom with water, but the defective plunger gets stuck in the open position, draining most of the water at once. Imagine you are taking a bath and cannot fill the tub with enough water. How clean do you think you could get? So how hard is it to replace? Not difficult at all. There are places on the internet that will give you instructions. I suggest "pro tool" dot.com. I'm not affiliated with them but they have great tutorial videos that helped me save money (a call to service or a new Di$hwa$er). They also sell parts, but Amazon is usually cheaper and faster! By the way, 2 1/2 months after installation, it was working perfectly.
