Let me start by saying that this is my first experience with "real" mountain bike pedals. A few years ago I started on a 2019 Giant Talon 29 2 with basic plastic pedals and passed this bike on to my son. I just bought a 21 Trance 29 3 that didn't come with pedals and they were recommended. I've been riding with them for a little over a month and for the most part I'm happy with them. I was initially concerned about the metal studs that might hurt my shin and I've been slapped a couple of times and I have to say it's not too bad in that regard. I use these in combination with RC Livewire shoes and the grip is a world away from my previous pedals. Although very grippy, the studs are a bit short and it makes my feet feel like they aren't catching on my shoes, but I'm used to that feeling. In terms of color I took the blue ones and they were exactly what I was looking for. I have a pair of blue lizard leather MTB gloves and they match very well. Installation was a breeze. I was glad to find out that I needed the size 1 hex head (8mm to connect with a torque wrench) so I didn't have to buy anything to properly tighten it.
