This is my first experience with Ubiquiti and I am very disappointed. My background is in technical infrastructure and I have a complex home network with multiple access points on all three floors. I needed a new hotspot and read a lot about Ubiquiti. I understand this and am wondering why I need to install a controller and then "accept" the access point, but what else is there. As soon as I install the controller software on Windows Server 2016, it finds the access point but does not accept it due to an ambiguous error. Googling found the firmware is too old for the controller software, siiih. So I'm trying to download an older version of the controller software at the time of testing this AP, and what's worse, it can't even detect the AP. Then I tried some extras, connected to the hotspot with SSH and tried to manually update the firmware using the downloaded BIN file and all it did was kill the SSH session. I've tried several times, even leaving the SSH session for hours, but the same problem. So I sent it back for exchange. This time the AP test date was even older, almost a year ago, so I re-downloaded the old controller software and it couldn't find the AP. By the way, I disabled the windows firewall and was able to successfully connect to port 8443 via telnet. This time I tried the iOS mobile app and it didn't recognize the hotspot right away, but when it did it gave an "unknown error" error. Siiiiii. To make matters worse, NO SUPPORT NUMBER. Your only option is RMA or visit the support section which consists of kb articles only! The KB article on "Adoption Error" is a complete waste of time. What a waste of time and energy with Ubiquiti. I am sending it back and will never buy Ubiquiti again.
