I was struggling to find the right advanced display hardware for my old Mac that had a Thunderbolt Mini Displayport for the Displayport. Using this chord (which was cheaper than any store I looked at), connected my Mac to a Samsung monitor's display port, turned on the monitor and voila! Extended display. Image quality is excellent, switching between my Mac and monitors is seamless. I'm happy!
