Mine was loud but roomy and powerful
It did its job, snapped in and blew the air out. The one I got made a whirring/buzzing noise. Not very loud, but just the right tone and volume to distract you while driving. Fortunately, Revane accepted the return. Unfortunately I couldn't try a replacement, I needed my defroster so I had to buy another brand. What was calm.
