Frustrated with filters

This was to replace the filter on my tough shoppack, the original filter shown in the photo to the left lasted more than 15 years. The replacement filter on the right arrived dented, which isn't a big deal and shipping can be blamed for that. However, the O-ring came loose in the first month and eventually failed completely after 3-4 months. Unfortunately I did the annual pre-burn cleaning of my wife's wood stove before I realized the problem and started filling the area with very fine ash. This is NOT what successful husbands should do. I suppose that's what I need because I'll get cheaper after the sale. I wonder where I'll sleep tonight?
