Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well enough for the price

First the reason for the 3 star rating; It was the only door big enough for my dog under $300. In addition to the price, the only thing I like about this door is the double leaf and the matte seal. However, I want to use an Endura brand door spring instead, and here's why: 1) The dog door doesn't fit between wall studs, so if you're installing on a load-bearing wall (like most exterior walls) you'll need to move the studs and build a collector, to transfer the load. This also includes drywall, dirt, tape, texture and paint. 2) The paper drill guide is off brand and was not accurate for my door. I had to measure and make my own pattern out of thick cardboard, which worked great. Given that the box the door comes in is cardboard, I don't see why the company wouldn't just put a stencil on the box. 3) The tunnel component, which costs extra, is cheap, flimsy, and attached in just two pieces. double-sided adhesive tape 4) Finally, you should cut the bolts to length depending on the wall thickness. Not exactly my idea of fun after cutting holes, removing drywall, setting up a manifold, moving bolts, making a template, replacing drywall, drilling holes and installing a door. At least $300 for a door that fits between the jambs. would have been well spent.
