I have a heavy front door that is 1.75 inches thick. I bought 3 hinges in case it takes the same number to close the door properly. As it turned out I had to use all 3. Luckily I did my homework and the hinges fit perfectly in the existing holes. I just reused the existing screws so I can't comment on them but I will say the hinges are very strong and adjustment was easy. Please note instructions for the loops were not included so I watched a YouTube video on how to do this. In most cases the 2 hinges (middle and bottom) will probably work, but if the door was barely open it wouldn't close as tightly as I would like as I don't want my animals to get out. Adjustment Instructions: If you are installing the hinges with the hex hole down, insert the hex key and turn clockwise - insert the pin when the hole matches. The video I watched says there shouldn't be more than 3 holes when opened 180 degrees, or 4 holes when opened 90 degrees. I left the pins sticking out a bit so they can be removed for future adjustments. Once you fully insert the pins, they become impossible to remove (I think).
