Buttons do not respond

I really want to love this timer. I like the preset buttons 10s, 1min, 5min and 10min... too bad there weren't such timers. It has a large display, which is nice. Here are my complaints. The biggest thing is that the buttons are very finicky. I usually have to press the buttons 2 or 3 times before they actually work, which really sucks because I use it for gong fu tea timing, which you often measure in 5-10 seconds. If you spend 3 seconds trying to get it to work, it's defeating your purpose. The second problem is that you can't read the display when it's on the table next to you. Like 88:88. Holding it upright with a stand makes it too unstable to actually set/start the timer. It should be flat, especially since the keys are so unresponsive, meaning you won't be able to read it. Third, as mentioned, it's SO loud, even on lower settings! I turned off the sound. Thank goodness you can. If you're just using it for an hour to spot something, those things might not matter, but for a short time it's a deal breaker. I ended up ordering something else. :(
