Nice device but app needs an overhaul

I had a ThermoPro TP-20 but didn't like that it only had high temperature alarms. You can't set it up to alert you when, for example, your smoker's internal temperature drops below 225. So I bought this Inkbird box specifically for this feature, and it works really well. Accurate and reliable. But instead of using a separate remote control like the ThermoPro, this device connects to an app on your phone. It's practical, but there are a few things that need improvement. Namely, the alarm that notifies you when the temperature is too high or too low is VERY LOUD, and - at least in the Android version on my Samsung phone - you cannot adjust the volume. This is very annoying, especially since I'm sure it's very easy to enable this functionality. Not only that, when the alarm goes off you can cancel it just from the app. So while he's yelling at you and bothering your family, you fumble to unlock your screen, unlock your phone, get to the app, and then turn off the alarm. Again, it's trivial for an app developer to show a notification that you can dismiss with a swipe rather than going through the whole thing. I sincerely hope they work to add these features. Then it becomes a five-star product.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Good but not great
