Suddenly my water is so green you can't even see the seaweed fish! My aquarium is near a large pane of glass, which unfortunately doesn't help against algae. I couldn't get rid of it so I tried this product. Tetra is generally the BEST brand in the aquatic environment but even if I followed the directions after the water change my tank turned green again and I literally couldn't see my fish 3 days later so I followed the directions and preferred to add more than focused on the tank. Unfortunately I found one of my parrotfish dead three words later when I decided to finally make a 3/4% change to get rid of them as much as possible. This product is not safe when used as intended! Very disappointed with Tetra at the moment! Upon further examining this product, as it has safety warnings all over it, it actually DESTROYS OXYGEN in the tank! I do not recommend using this every 3 days as stated on the bottle. Instead, I suggest flushing the tank about every 4 days, depending on how bad your situation is, by adding a good quality water conditioner, using water at the same temperature, and putting it back in the tank. It seems to be working for me so far. Also, make sure you change the filter every time you turn on the tank or change the water, no matter how new the filter is, this will help prevent old algae from getting through the filter. again and lower it back into the water. Also, be sure to wipe down ALL the decorations in the aquarium as well as the walls of the aquarium. I'm even considering replacing some of my gravel, but not all, as it's important to leave some of the old gravel when cycling an aquarium or setting up a new tank, as it contains beneficial bacteria that fish need. In conclusion, it's best to just cycle the aquarium. add water at the same temperature with conditioner about every 4 days and use the recommended dose of algae remover instead of adding it every 3 days. There is no harm in cycling the tank. some fish farmers even do this every 1-2 days. Also, some fish are more resilient than others, so knowing your fish and how resilient they are can be very helpful! Hope that helps!
