Review on E.L.F. Ride Or Die Lip Balm, Ultra-Hydrating Jojoba Oil Tinted Sheer Finish, Boss Berry 0.42 Oz (12G) by James Bartels

It tastes horrible, but you just might understand your childhood better

I don’t expect all my lip products to taste *amazing*, but I do appreciate a baseline level of neutral taste for anything I’m going to put on my lips and inevitably get small tastes of throughout the day. As other reviewers are pointing out, this Elf balm unfortunately doesn’t give you the courtesy of a neutral tasting experience! It SMELLS pretty pleasant, actually, like a rose water toner, but that translates horribly to the taste. It tastes like eating a powdery rose scented bar of soap or like you’re gargling with that rose micellar water before bed. It’s really unpleasant and so I couldn’t keep the balm on my lips for long before I had to scrub it off.I didn’t really care for the consistency either: it was very thick and gloopy and by the time you spread it out across your lips for even coverage, you’ve lost a lot of the color pigmentation. The color was nice otherwise, but not enough to balance out the horrible wear experience due to the taste.TIP: If you decide to try out this balm, rather than warming it between your hands try just tucking it in your waistband or in your bra. It will warm it more quickly and it’s hands free!I kept the second star in this review because of one unexpected bright side to trying out this product: I now fully understand my mom’s old threats to wash out my mouth with soap.
