My cat from the shelter caught a cold when we adopted her and refused to eat. I tried sardines, tuna, yogurt, milk, raw chicken, chicken broth, cheese, and every other cat treat I could think of. The winner was the Fancy Feast sauce (she just licked the sauce off the top, poor thing was too sick to chew). their fur was dull and full of scales. We've reintroduced Fancy Feast and she's shining and sparkling again! She freaks out and cries with excitement when she sees me take out the jar and do cat parkour flips to get to her food bowl. Our dog also likes to lick the cans, although his sister doesn't leave any leftovers.
