Very similar to a cylindrical shape, only rectangular. That said, the puzzles add up in essentially the same way, taking my kids about 2 minutes to solve. now they have been reduced to 30 seconds. This puzzle is only losing a star because the pieces stick a little better than the rounded version we bought a few weeks ago. These parts fitted in much more smoothly. Even my kids noticed that. Otherwise a fun little puzzle. Very small so easy to leave on a table or something. But not so small that it would be difficult to work with. It's the size of a Rubik's Cube. My boys aged 9 and 11 are competing to see who can solve the puzzle the fastest. The goal is less than 30 seconds.
