Review on Preserve the Classic Style: 18 Cube Vintage Kitchen Ice Cube Tray 2-Pack by Tabitha Johnson

They are much more convenient to use than plastic, which releases toxins on ice

I love these stainless steel ice cube trays. I am very concerned about the impact of using plastic items to store food (and ice). These items may say they are BPF-free, but who knows what other chemicals might harm us. Plastic has been found to leach estrogen, which can cause breast cancer. No thank you. The trays seem small but I measured the amount of water used for one of them and for the traditional plastic tray. This tray holds two full mugs. The plastic bowl holds one and a half cups. Essentially, you get some more ice. The instructions state not to wash them with any type of soap. I suspect this removes the protective layer that helps release the ice cubes easily. I was concerned about how clean they might be, so after rinsing, I used some rubbing alcohol to "clean" the trays. sit for 10 minutes. Then I shake the handle back and forth several times (it's not necessary to pull it all the way). Most ice cubes can simply be placed in a bowl. Then I pull the handle all the way up to release the middle ice cubes. A puddle of water forms at the bottom of the tray. I drain it and put the cubes back in the freezer. After about 5-10 minutes (you have to!) go back and separate the cubes. If not, then you have a big one ;) The instructions say to fill the shells without dividers. When I did it this way, the water ran all over the place. The easiest way is to just leave them inside. Their butts buckled when frozen. This was because they were on the frozen floor, which has small raised slats on it. There the metal is bent. As soon as I put them on the stand they stopped. A while ago I noticed small white flakes in my water glasses. I thought it might have something to do with the plastic trays. The flakes remained after their use. Find out, it's the hard water. mostly calcium and magnesium carbonate, and they are harmless. I use a faucet mounted water filter, but you need a reverse osmosis system to filter it.

  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • There are more interesting options.
