Doesn't wash well in rugs

I bought 2 rugs. I didn't use them right away as my house was being renovated. A month after purchasing it, I took it out of the box and started using it. You were wonderful. I washed them and now they are unusable. It will not lie flat. The outer edge of the rugs (rugs are round) is curved downwards. I basically lost my money.
