Review on πŸ”§ C.S. Osborne 253 Upholstery Tool for Webbing Stretching with Gooseneck Design by Morgan Gilmore

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worth every penny

While I may never find a use for this tool again, it was well worth the money spent. Our wicker furniture is old and the straps under the pillows have snapped. (I was imagining a scene from a TV comedy where our guests, one by one, fall through the seats of their chairs and disappear!). I did a little research and found a local shop that could replace the straps, but for around $100 a chair. It would cost almost $1,000 just for the dressing! After watching a few instructional videos on YouTube, I decided to buy this tool and tackle this project myself. (As you can imagine, my husband was also involved in this project, but to save so much money he was very happy to do it.) I spent a total of $160 on all the supplies. As with most projects, the first pair of chairs had to be learned. Then we got the hang of it and were able to finish the rest pretty quickly. Without this tool this job would not have been possible! Without this, it is impossible to adequately stretch and hold and secure the band. This instrument looks like it was pulled out of an old torture chamber. This is a simple handle with serrated teeth built into one edge. If you're new to this like me, find a youtube video and see how it works, you'll save a ton of time and effort. Additional Note: The original webbing that became brittle and cracked over time was a rubberized strap. . Is it expensive. I'm not sure we'll be using this furniture long enough to justify such an investment, so I bought an alternative black plastic webbing. I wondered if the black gauze-like webbing would hold, wouldn't it unravel when cut, would the clips just pull out when you sat on them? My fears were unjustified, the cheap black strap worked perfectly! Much luck! If you find this review helpful, please let me know using the voting buttons.
